New Mexico
Sandia Peak Ski Area is a family area located in the Cibola National Forest approximately 30 minutes from Albuquerque, N.M.
Experience the drama of an 11,000 square mile panoramic view of New Mexico from the World's Longest Tramway. From the base to the top of 10,378 foot Sandia Peak, time and terrain seem to move in harmony as passengers lift from the desert floor, above canyons and lush forests, to the mountain top - 2.7 miles of sky-view travel and discovery of New Mexico's varied landscape and life zones.
With numerous trails covering 200 skiable acres, Sandia Peak offers an excellent learning environment for the novice/beginner skier as well as some of the longest cruising terrain for intermediates available in the state.
Snowboarding is allowed at the area on all trails. Rentals and lessons are available daily. Workshops are scheduled throughout the season. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 47 km of trails in the Cibola National Forest at the top of the mountain. Trails may be accessed via Sandia Peak Tramway or Highway 536 to the Crest.
PSIA-certified instructors offer full- or half-day alpine, snowboard and telemark lessons. The Cubby Corner Ski School for children 4 to 6 years of age offers children their own surface lift, warming hut and restrooms. A licensed day care facility is located within a few miles of the ski area.
